A Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in Austin, Texas partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor a local U.S. veteran with a grant. Along with making a donation, the branch held a residential housing “boot camp” to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to best handle the home-purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans.
The honoree at the Austin event was local U.S. Navy veteran Bobby Withrow, who is the caretaker of the “Remembering the Fallen” Texas division. Bobby drives thousands of miles around Texas transporting a 200-foot memorial containing the pictures and names of 600+ Texas natives killed in combat since the start of the U.S. War on Terror in 2001. Fairway and AWI honored Bobby with a $10,000 grant that he will use to help with his transportation expenses as he travels to honor fallen heroes.
Co-founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage. AWI seeks to ease U.S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.
